Porter Thermometer Museum - A Unique Attraction in Cape Cod

The Porter Thermometer Museum is a unique museum showcasing the world’s largest collections of thermometers gathered by Richard Porter a retired teacher of science in Lexington schools of Onset, MA. The museum boasts of a comprehensive collection of more than 2500 thermometers collected by Porter at flea markets, yard sales and antique shops, or on his tours across the United States, and even to Europe, South America and Africa. The museum is located inside Porter’s house and is open for visitors 24 hours a day and 365 days a year.

The Porter Thermometer Museum is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records and Ripley's Believe It or Not. The devices at the museum are arranged neatly in cabinets while some of them are lined up in shelves, benches and tables. Some of the thermometers even dangle from the ceiling and hang from walls as well. The thermometers in every conceivable size and format are on display at the museum with some of them being attached to advertising signs, while others are old as well as new and some of them unique in design and style.
